Every blogger has used links within the structure of his/her blog. The purpose why they do that is to attract more people to read the post or to guide the audience through a certain path or direction. The really important thing about linking is whether we know the purpose behind each type of link and we have to decide at a certain point what the anchor text to that link should be. In order to accomplish this and utilize the different link types I give you the links that bloggers use the most nowadays and a brief analysis of what they do:
Resource Links
Bloggers place links in their posts to promote something, to reach the audience in a particular way or to provide useful and in depth information on a specific field. The links that provide useful information definitely have to be present in a blog post in case you want to gain more interest to the topic but yet they have to be a small number because you want people to click on them. The best way to go about this is by adding the resource link when you summarize or analyze a certain topic. Another good way of doing it is by adding links at the end of your post which takes your visitors to other blog posts that relate to yours. It is really good if you link to your blog posts on a regular basis. A lot of experts in the SEO field know the fact that this can help you raise the value of the pages youaˆ™re linking to.

Bloggers like Jon Chow have broken some barriers by starting blog contests on their blogs. All the top bloggers and blogs use this as means of boosting their blog performance and maintaining the already established traffic. This keeps the loyal readers for longer time on their pages. The good results, high traffic and the flood of comments are not far away after the posts are published.
Engadget and its giveaways made a great impact on the blog’s comments. The “have-an-iphone-on-us” post received the amazing 25 451 comments which is the most commented post I have ever seen. The next example shows us how John Chow used one and the same contest three times. The four hour woorkweek book prize proved to be a tempting prize which nobody wanted to loose. Look at the pure blogging contest. The guy behind the scenes of this blog has learned from John Chow’s experience and has managed to pull off a good contest.
These were some of the examples I found on the web. All the bloggers aim at building high traffic and establishing a loyal community which will comment their posts regularly. The contest could really help you bloggers achieve that. Here is what you need to know and perform so that you get positive results from the blog contest:
Idea
A contest with a good idea which is directly targeting the niche is the key factor for a good kick start. Stuff that the readers would want are more likely to succeed and to be commented and praised than others. Of course the idea that stands behind the contest should be plain enough so that more people would be able to join and participate.
